Cycle2 Week 10

Question: What causes high & low tides?
Answer: The moon is what creates the tides. But, they aren't both necessarily influenced by the moon in the same manner. Because high tides are caused by the moon's gravitational force, it pulls on the water in the oceans so that there are bulges in the ocean on both sides of the planet. The moon pulls water toward it, and this causes the high tides. Low tides are caused by the sides of the earth that aren't being pulled by the moons gravitational pull.

Cycle 2 Week 9
This week our class learned about sundials and the earth and its rotation. I also found out what the sun dials purpose is, it is used to tell what time it is and where the the sun is beaming down from. The way it works is that the sun shines on one spot of the dial and the other side of the dial creates a shadow in which it tells the location of the sun. I also learned in class that when the earth rotates around the sun it creates shadows which move. And what helps it work is the sun and its rotation around the earth.

Cycle 2 Week 8
In the five months of blogging for science class, I have noticed a few changes in my academics. For one it has improved my writing and researching skills. Because before I would find it next to impossible to add any evidence to any of my writing, but since I am now capable of finding good research I add more evidence. But unfortunately i didn't develop this skill after one blog, though it might have been awesome if I would have, but when I did develop that skill it helped me on the NJ ASK by being able to back up my answer's. Also in some earlier blogs I do believe that I could have done much better on them by adding details and insight. But if I would have had those skills then maybe I would have done better on the old blogs.

Emran-Your post was interesting, but your supposed to answer all parts of the question, also it might have been wiser to take your time and try to add some more evidence to back your response up.
Neejai-Nice work but you could give some more details about the oil spill.

Cycle 2 Week 7
The Jupiter oil spill went down in history as one of the top 10 most famous spills in history. This oil spill wasn't an accident on the crew or the captain's part, instead it was caused by, "the tank vessel of Jupiter caught fire and exploded during offloading operations". This spill took place,"on the Saginaw river near Bay City, Michigan",& the type of oil spilled was petroleum oil. There was 75 feet of oil spilled in the Jupiter Oil Spill. Also, the actual oil spill actually only took half an hour to control, because the oil spill occurred when the ship was delivering the oil. So they knew how much oil was spilled, because they knew they had an easier time cleaning it.
Here's a picture link for the spill :

Cycle 2 Week 6
Although most people may think that there is only one type of engineering there are actually multiple types of engineering. One of those types is, Marine and Ocean engineering, which is just "deal with the design of ocean vehicles, marine propulsion systems, and marine structures such as harbors, docks, and offshore drilling platforms. These engineers are exploring and developing the natural resources and transportation systems of the ocean." Also, a different type is Biomedical Engineers, and they "study biology and medicine to develop technologies related to health care. They develop medical diagnostic machines, medical instruments, artificial organs, joint replacement parts, and prosthetic devices. ' A third type is, Audio engineering, the audio engineers create sounds. If I had a choice to go into engineering, i would become a Bio-engineer. I would go into this because,"Bio-engineers study living systems and apply that knowledge to solve various problems. They study the safety of food supplies, keep desirable organisms alive in fermentation processes, and design biologically based sensors. Bioengineering is widely used to destroy wastes and clean up contaminated soil and water. These engineers contribute greatly to human health and the environment." & I quite frankly find studying that very interesting.

Cycle 2 Week5- Blogging in school
In reading "Ms. Jenkins Science Blog" I learned that in blogging you can pretty much write about anything. From blogging about lesson plans to common science questions. Also, you can write about preparations for upcoming crutial exams. As Ms. Jenkins did,"In preparation for the upcoming CST, we've taken the BAM time machine back to 4th grade, reviewing the principles of magnetism and electricity. We explored the way magnets attract and repel, and built several types of circuits (parallel and series)." In writing this blog Ms. Jenkins has given me a few ideas for what topics to write about in future blogs. Like, I could write about how I prepared for a FIFA or the NJ ask in my blog.

Cycle2 Week 5- my blogging
The technology that we've used in science has benefited me in multiple ways, that i would have never fathomed to occur by just using technology. One of the ways that blogging has helped, was by perfecting my writing skills. Before I used to just write a few sentences for any type of open-ended responses and not usually think twice about what I would write. Since blogging for science class I have now been adding insight and stating evidence. Because of blogging and its benefiting my writing, the NJ ask was super easy. Aside from blogging other resources in technology that was beneficial was gmail. This was beneficial because it allowed me to converse with friends outside of the school.

week4
The video that I watched was "Hooked On Science". This video was basically about the relationship between art& academics. But it " has a greater connection to Science," this is because art and science both have color theory. It states in the video"any time you look at a painting your talking about color theory, & how color and light react." So when you talk about color & art your basically talking about science. It also states "the light waves & the mid background is science related....I teach science color theory and color pigment theory." So i learned that science and art are very similar so when I am enjoying a nice Picasso painting on the internet I can thank science for allowing the colors to be seen. THis relates to me because I never rely thought that art and science were similar.

Cycle 2 Week 3
I've learned quite a few important points from the article "Sea Turtle Soup? No Thanks!" One of the things that I've learned is "sea turtles (family Cheloniidae) absorb a lot of pollution from the ocean, including pesticides and heavy metals like mercury and cadmium. These toxins are health hazards for both turtles and humans and can cause permanent damage to their bodies. Sea turtles also carry the bacteria salmonella..." Since some people around the world eat sea turtle the turtle's that they eat could be infected so the chances of them getting fatally sick are high. Another thing that I learned is,"Sea turtles have been on Earth for millions of years, but they are in danger of going extinct. The main threat to them is people who kill them for food..." So in truth we have been killing one the earth's oldest & most beautiful creatures for our own wrong purposes. Because we as humans don"t need to have sea turtle accessories nor eat an exotic sea turtle cuisine. The way this article applies to me and the world around me is that not even the most harmed animal con seem to not be even more harmed by humans in this world. So people around the world should stop eating sea turtle's and stop using them for unessential reasons.

Cycle2-Week2
If I could design a web game it will be probably be called "Gone Batty ". The names of the characters on the game will be Professor Batdrulla, Adri, and the player visiting the sight. The professor would be the person to ask the questions from different categories like Poetry, Science, English,& History. If the person dose not get the question correct then he/she will have to either answer "THE WORLDS HARDEST QUESTION" or fill in the blanks of a song chosen by Professor Batdrulla. But this game wont be like any other game that you have gone on, this one will not allow you to go on the internet without quitting or exiting the game, to make it a bit easier it will give you some clues about the answer but they will be very vague. In the end the players will walk away with the memory of what they learned from days past. Not only will they walk away with a refreshed mind but also new knowledge.

Cycle2-Week 1
The game that I currently enjoy playing is speed. The basic objective of the game is to put down the next correct card before the other person, and when you are done with the card you yell SPEED! From playing this game you can learn how to improve your hand eye coordination. Also the best part about this game is that you can change it and made into a math a math game. Not only can you use this to learn math but also Science, English, History & so on & so forth by having the loser answer questions in that category.

Week6_ Recap
It's now been our sixth week writing blogs and its time to check the answers that I gave. Thankfully I answered the majority of my answerer's have been right but I've had a couple partial answers as well. And i have to say that out of my seven blogs so far I think that my best blog would have to be my first week prompt. The reason for this is that I really worked my hardest put my best best effort forth where as the others I didn't put as much effort in. But next cycle I plan to do my very best and put more effort forth. I also will try to use other sites to check my answers and not just the same ones.

Week5_Prompt#2
A glass of cold water with a low kinetic energy was placed on a part of a tabel with a high kinetic energy. After a while the water had more kinetic energy. One reason for this might be that the cup of water could have absoarbed the tabels thermal energy whitch might have heated yhe water up abit. So the cold waters molicules could have heated and started to move rapidly. Because when a substance is cold to the point where ir could be freezing its molicules are packed super tight together,so when it heats the molicules of the substance start spreading out. That's why the waters kinetic energy increased.

Week4-episode bodies electric
In this episode of design squads whent toe to toe in trying to come up with the best electrical dance productions. To do this they used a flow chart to come up with ideas. But there was one squad that problems working together, and that squad was the the red team. Because of their lack comunication they ended losing compitition, but the blue squad was the complete opisit, and because they worked well together they ended up wining.
If I were in there situation I would do things differently. For one I wouldn't bad mouth the other teammates that are doing all the work. I also wouldn't be acting acting childish when there somthig that can realy benifit you. So I would basicly do what the red team did. It seamed to work well, because they won the challenge.

Week3_Prompt#3
When water evaporates the air underneeath it becomes cooler. The reason for this is that the air is already hot because it needs to be hot to make something evaporate. So when the waters cool temprature comes into contact with the atmospheirs hot temprature it becomes cooler. But not 100% cooler because they have to mix and meet at a middel temprature. That's why when water evaporates the air beneath it becomes cooler.

Week2_prompt#1
If I were to drop a ball and my friend said that the energy went somewhere It wouldn't be intirely true nor would it be intirely wrong. In part the balls energy did go somewhere, but it realy didn't dissapear. The balls kinetic energy was just converted back into potential energy. So it did go away, but it realy didn't leave it just got converted into potential energy. In truth she was partly correct.

Week1_Prompt#2
When a person bounces a basket ball the process of conversion is occuring, changing potential energy into kinetic energy. The reason for the conversion was that when the person holding the ball is keeping the ball in place it's expresing potential energy. Because it has the potential to release energy but it dosent. Then when the person let's go of the ball and it bounces it releases kinetic energy witch contributes to the conversion process, because it changed from potentail to kinetic energy in the time from the person holding the ball and getting ready to bounce it and the ball being released and bouncing. Then the ball will stop bouncing and that will also be conversion, from kinetic back to potentiol energy. That's what occurs in the conversion of a basket ball from potential to kinetic energy back to potential energy.

Technology-in science
I think it is a great thing to add technology in science.Though i am neutral when it comes to science i personaly think that it wll make science mor interesting.I'm also very excited about doing more things on the cumputer instead of doing it traditionaly. So i basicly think that its a great idea. Thats all i have to say about the matter.
